If you’re a busy guy in your 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, chances are you have heard that you can no longer reap the benefits of the days of your youth. Society has told you that it’s not possible for you to stay lean, stay fit, and have the exuberance and energy you once felt and had as a young man.

These constant messages are telling us that it's ok to not be our best selves. We don’t have to try or stay hungry as we once did when we were young. We no longer have anything to prove to ourselves. These messages are also contributing to a larger problem we are not addressing.

Obesity.

In the U.S., today, nearly 50% of all men over 40 are obesity. Being overweight and out of shape is the number one contributor to early death. And today more men are passing away at younger ages than ever before. Cancer diagnoses in men are escalating. Men are being put on prescription meds for blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease at younger ages. And more families are losing fathers and husbands by the day.

Obesity is the enemy, the one that sits on the top of the hill peering down at us from afar. We have allowed for far too long to let ourselves lose.

To take the hill is no easy task. There are no quick fixes. There are no hacks or shortcuts to winning this battle to a better and more healthy life.

The only way to win is to work. Every day, little by little. And with the right methods, tools, and strategies, together we can help you stand tall against the enemy of obesity and mediocrity and take back your life.

Hi, I’m Dr. Anthony Balduzzi, CEO of The Fit Father Project and Host of this show, the Fit Father Project Podcast. For the last 10 years, my team and I have perfected a health and weight loss system designed exclusively For Men Over 40. 40,000 men in over 100 countries have come through Fit Father Project ready to take on their own hill and conquer their enemies.

And now it’s time we help you with yours.

On this podcast, we’re going to cover tactics and strategies to help you wage war against your enemy such as

- How to increase your testosterone to build age-defying muscle
- How to make healthy eating simple and sustainable.
- How to become the best version of yourself.

My commitment to you is to set you up for success. Truth be told, there will be times your mind will tell you to take it easy, to go back to unhealthy habits.

There will be times that the daily stresses of life will make you feel like the only way to deal with it is to eat your favorite junk food meal.

There will be times you will feel satisfied with where you are and give up because you’re content.

But together on this podcast, we will stay the course and conquer the hill.

Dementia Prevention: Mitchell Clionsky, PhD, on Enhancing Brain Health

Episode 196 is about dementia prevention, cognitive aging, and brain health.
In this episode, you’ll meet Mitchell Clionsky, Ph.D., a board-certified neuropsychologist who specializes in evaluating and treating patients with cognitive impairment, dementia, ADHD, and traumatic brain injury.

Along with his wife, Emily Clionsky, MD, they have a combined 70 years of professional and clinical experience in medicine and neuropsychology and have treated 20,000 patients.

They’re also the co-authors of Dementia Prevention: Using Your Head to Save Your Brain, a book that shows easy-to-follow steps to keep your brain healthy.

This episode covers the definition, types, and prevalence of dementia, as well as individual risk factors and the potential of aging with a healthy brain.

They also explore the impact of alcohol and marijuana on brain health, the effectiveness of supplements, and the benefits of intermittent fasting.

The conversation emphasizes the importance of lifestyle factors in preventing dementia and maintaining brain health, covering topics such as personal diet and lifestyle, a comprehensive model for dementia prevention, individualized intervention, counseling people with dementia, and caregiver support.

Key Takeaways:One out of two cases of dementia is preventable through lifestyle factors such as exercise, a healthy diet, avoiding head injuries, and managing chronic conditions.Alcohol and marijuana use can have negative effects on brain health, while supplements and functional mushrooms may have limited evidence of benefit. Intermittent fasting and a low-carb diet can be beneficial for dementia prevention. A comprehensive model for dementia prevention includes factors such as exercise, sleep apnea treatment, weight control, and medication management. Individualized interventions are key for dementia prevention, as there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

Building Healthy Relationships with Dating and Attraction Coach Emily Freeman

Building Healthy Relationships with Dating and Attraction Coach Emily Freeman

Episode 195 is about building healthy relationships and the importance of self-reflection, self-compassion, and radical honesty.
In this episode, you’ll meet Emily Freeman, a dating and attraction coach who empowers people to go from confused to confident in their love lives.

Her mission is to help you stop focusing on surface-level tactics that don't work and instead attract your dream partner authentically.

Emily's dating methodologies and principles have helped thousands release deep-rooted insecurities, become unapologetically confident, and get everything they desire in love.

Her extensive expertise in subconscious programming, attachment theory, attraction, and communication didn't happen by accident. After experiencing firsthand how having subconscious blocks could make dating and love feel intense, complicated, and confusing, she was motivated to change others' lives.

One of the reasons her clients see so much success is because she has deep empathy and advocates for them every step of the way. After meeting her, it's apparent why she's successfully helped CEOs, physicians, entrepreneurs, and high-performing professionals become empowered in love and attract their dream partners!

Key Takeaways:Self-awareness and understanding our patterns and beliefs are crucial for creating healthier dynamics in relationships. In relationships, it's important to qualify the other person and observe their behavior rather than projecting our own desires onto them. To improve a primary relationship, initiate a conversation with questions and allow both partners to feel heard and involved in finding solutions. For individuals re-entering the dating scene, clarity on personal desires and values is crucial, as well as authentic self-presentation and effective communication. Forgiveness and healing are important for rebuilding trust and creating safety in relationships. Taking care of oneself physically and investing in personal growth can contribute to attractiveness and spark in a long-term relationship.

Oral Health: Gary Kadi of NextLevel Practice on the Mouth-Body Connection

Oral Health: Gary Kadi of NextLevel Practice on the Mouth-Body Connection

Episode 194 is about oral health and how your mouth can affect many of the body’s organs — and so much more!
In this episode, you’ll meet Gary Kadi, the founder and chairman of the board of NextLevel Practice, a leading dental and medical consulting firm.
Gary has worked to empower dentists for over 20 years, transforming America’s view of oral health and elevating the standing of dentistry in the public consciousness.

As a dental and health expert, Gary discusses the importance of oral health and the mouth-body connection, highlighting the impact of oral pathogens on heart health.

Maintaining good oral health is essential to prevent chronic health conditions. Poor oral hygiene can cause inflammation from periodontal disease, which can lead to cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, respiratory diseases, osteoporosis in the jaw, rheumatoid arthritis, premature birth, low birth weight, and even Alzheimer's and dementia.

Taking care of your oral health is crucial, and Gary shows you how to do it. He also opens up about his journey to overcome addiction, and, as a successful entrepreneur, he shares his secrets to health, wealth, and happiness!

Key Takeaways:Oral health is crucial for overall body health, as oral pathogens can contribute to heart attacks and other health issues. Addiction is often connected to trauma, and addressing the root causes is essential for healing. Maintaining health in five domains (physical, financial, social, mental, and spiritual) is key to overall well-being. Value exchange is important in financial health, and helping others achieve their goals can lead to financial success. Practicing forgiveness and letting go of self-righteousness can lead to mental and spiritual well-being.

The Truth About Masculinity: Traver Boehm and the UNcivilized Men’s Movement

The Truth About Masculinity: Traver Boehm and the UNcivilized Men’s Movement

Episode 193 is a deep dive into the changing landscape of masculinity and the challenges men face today.
In this episode, you’ll meet Traver Boehm, the founder of the UNcivilized Men’s Movement, author of Man UNcivilized, host of the UNcivilized Podcast, and a two-time TEDx speaker.

Traver’s goal is to end the suffering in men — to end the suffering caused by men. He is dedicated to understanding how men think, what’s behind their behavior, and, most importantly, their unique challenges in the modern landscape.

In 2016, after losing a pregnancy, his marriage, and his business partnership all within weeks of each other, he created a radical year-long social experiment to answer the question, “Who am I as a man?”

During that year, he lived alone in a pitch-black room for a month, sat among men nearing the end of their lives in hospice, and called all of his exes to ask where he was deficient as a man.

It was also when he realized that he might be able to help other men answer the question for themselves, “Who am I as a man?”

Drawing upon an eclectic background ranging from professional bodyguard and mixed martial arts to a Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and meditation, he’s helped men all over the world become UNcivilized as they wake up to the power of their hearts, the brilliance of their bodies, and the wisdom of their souls so they can blaze their own path. He does this through one-on-one coaching with men or women, couples coaching, and group mentorship.

If you want to take risks and live boldly to create a fulfilling and meaningful life, you've got to listen to this episode!

Key Takeaways:Grounded masculinity involves being physically strong, emotionally present, and having a sense of purpose. Men have core needs, including the need to feel seen, heard, and celebrated, as well as the need for a purpose beyond family. The concept of toxic masculinity oversimplifies the issues men face and can be harmful.Men should strive to be authentic and express themselves rather than conform to societal expectations. Integrity is crucial for men, aligning thoughts, words, and actions, leading to confidence and purpose. Fitness plays a significant role in masculinity, providing strength, capability, and safety. Meditation and presence are essential for men to cultivate self-awareness, improve relationships, and navigate the challenges of modern technology.

But Lisa refused to believe it. She dove deep into the research and spent the following years helping her mom rehabilitate herself from having hardly any function to having complete independence, including getting her driver's license back, walking up to 5 km a day, and going to the gym five days a week.

Again, not willing to give up, Lisa dove back into the research and pulled together a comprehensive protocol using everything from the science around the metabolic approach to cancer to peptides, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a strict keto diet, and more.

Her mom is now cancer-free and back to near full health at age 82!

Lisa shares her and her mother's story—an amazing journey of determination and resilience. It’s an incredible conversation highlighting the importance of mindset and pushing through mental and physical limits.

Great podcast

Just listened to the Gary Brummett interview about high school weight at 60. What an inspiration. At 57 gives me a huge goal to achieve. Podcast was very informational. I love the concept of weekly totals for reps. I get discouraged when I can only do a few push ups at a time. Now I am going to look at a weekly, larger number to achieve. Thank you!
